A crew in the field, a rebuild shop behind it and a parts counter out front

In 1949 Ole Akland saw Yakima Valley farmers struggling to farm their land and turn a profit, and he saw a way to use irrigation water more wisely, with less waste. He combined aluminum piping with an innovative pumping system so growers could raise better crops on less water and labor, and opened Akland Pump and Irrigation to sell it.

Today Ole's grandson Mark Akland and his great-grandson Jake run the 25 employee company. If it relates to domestic and irrigation water, the store probably has it, the shop can probably rebuild it, and a crew can come out and set it.

What the crews and the shop take care of

Residential, agricultural and commercial. Domestic wells and pressure tanks, irrigation pumps and constant pressure drives, line shaft and sub turbines, sprinkler repair and blowouts, and wheel line in the fields. Akland does not drill wells or work on septic systems, and installs the pump once the driller is done.

Kyle in the pump department, Dylan running water over from next door, and a test video before anything got replaced

“Kyle in the pump department is hands down the most knowledgeable guy I’ve talked to When it comes to rebuilding pumps . He went above and beyond by helping me get my pump fixed. I would recommend him to anyone. Akland pump give that guy a raise !”

“Highly recommend this business just from my experiences with the customer service! I had to take an irrigation pump down to them to have it inspected and to also get a seal replaced. Both tasks were completed with quality customer service. They provided me with a video of them testing the pump to show me that it was in good working order to begin with. Complete honesty from these people. Professionals. Highly recommend!”

“Are well went out and our neighbors told us he had a friend that worked at this company. So we called this company schedule someone to come out. But in the meantime, our neighbor's friend named Dylan and our neighbor came over and they hooked us up water from the neighbor's house. They went out of their way to make sure we had water. I was very impressed with this. It's nice to know there's kind people to help.”

“These guys did a great job installing a new pressure tank for me. They were fast and made it right after some slight miscommunication on the invoicing. I will definitely use again when in need.”

Pressure tanks, estimates and the after-hours line

The questions the counter hears most. For a new pump estimate, have the well's depth, water level and distance to power handy. The full list is on the FAQs page.

No, we do not. We install the pump after a well driller comes in and drills the well.

A pressure tank holds a small amount of water so your pump does not turn on every time you use it. A pressure tank does not cause high or low pressure. If your pump is cycling (turning on and off often or rapidly), the tank may need to be recharged with air or replaced.

Yes. We repair almost all domestic (jet) pumps and irrigation (centrifugal) pumps, plus spa and pool pumps, sub-turbine and turbine pumps.

Call the shop number and you will be directed to our after-hours service technician, who can come out and repair or replace your domestic water pump. After-hours rates apply.

Domestic house pumps should get a yearly service check. An irrigation pump should be serviced at least every three years, or any time it is not sounding right or producing what it should. Turbine motors should be checked every couple of years.

Yes. Call us with the information on your well (depth, water level and distance to power) and we will put an estimate together for you.

No. We can sell you a new septic pump, but we are unable to work on septic systems.

We are no longer designing sprinkler systems. We can repair an existing system for you.

Yes. We also start your system up and adjust it in the spring.
