Wheel line and hand-line
Wheel Line & Hand-Line
Aluminum pipe repair for wheel line and hand-line, with a large selection of gaskets and parts to keep your fields in water.
Chapter 01
Where wheel line and hand-line start to fail
A line of aluminum pipe lives a hard life. It gets dragged across a field, set down, picked up and pressurized again, season after season. The weak points show up in the same few places: a gasket that has worn out and weeps at the joint, a length of pipe that picked up damage along the way, a section that no longer holds water like it should.
The cost of ignoring a leak is not just the water going on the ground. It is the part of the field at the end of the line that never gets its turn, and a crop that waits on a pipe. When a field is going dry, the repair is the job that matters most that week.

What Akland repairs, and what is on the shelf
In their own words: “We know how important it is to keep your fields watered. We can repair wheel line. We carry a large selection of gaskets and parts to keep your fields in water.” That is the whole job, and it is done at the shop on Fruitvale Blvd in Yakima.
Aluminum pipe is on the repair list next to domestic well, irrigation and pond pumps, sprinkler systems, cracked pipes and broken sprinkler heads. For an unusual problem, the technicians are trained to custom weld and can order special fabrications to fit the job. Bring the worn part to the counter on Fruitvale Blvd and the staff can help you find the right gasket or fitting.
Chapter 03
Keeping the line moving, or changing how you irrigate
Repairing the pipe you already own is the quick answer. If the real problem is the work of moving hand line around, there is another way to irrigate that Akland also carries. Their K-Line page explains how pods are easy to change and easy to move, and how pressure compensated sprinklers keep water even on hills.
If you are not sure which way to go, call the shop at the number below with what the line is doing and what the field needs. Pipe, pumps and parts are all handled under one roof.

Aluminum pipe since 1949
In 1949 Ole Akland combined aluminum piping with an innovative pumping system to help farmers grow better crops using less water and labor. That pairing of pipe and pump is how the company started, and it is why a wheel line or hand-line repair is not a side job here.
Today Ole's grandson Mark Akland and his great-grandson Jake run the company. Read the whole story on the about page, or see how K-Line irrigation takes the place of moving hand line.
