IRRIGATION PUMPS, YAKIMA
Irrigation Pumps in Yakima, WA
Irrigation pump installation and repair for orchards, small farms and homes, with energy-efficient constant pressure variable speed drives and piping installation.
Chapter 01
What goes wrong when an irrigation pump loses pressure
An irrigation pump rarely quits all at once. It starts throwing less water than it did in June, or it runs hot and trips, or the pressure sags toward the end of the set. In the Yakima Valley the usual suspects are a worn impeller, a seal that has started to weep, a suction screen packed with canal silt and debris, or a motor working harder than it should.
Some of that you can chase with a wrench and a flashlight. Some of it you cannot see without pulling the pump apart, and that is what the shop at 3701 Fruitvale Blvd is set up for. Bring the pump in and it gets inspected before anything gets replaced.
That is how Rudy Oberlander’s visit went. He took an irrigation pump down to be inspected and to have a seal replaced, and the shop sent him a video of the pump on test to show it was in good working order. His full review is further down this page.

Pump technicians and electricians from the same shop
Akland installs and repairs irrigation pumps for orchards, small farms and homes, and does the piping installation that goes with them. In the shop’s own words: “We repair, and rebuild domestic, and irrigation pumps, install domestic water and irrigation systems.”
A pump is only half of a pumping system. The panel, the starter and the wiring decide whether it runs, so it matters that the crew includes electricians as well as pump technicians. Akland holds Washington plumbing, electrical and general contractor licences, all active: plumbing AKLANPI740LQ, electrical AKLANPI898RH, general AKLANPC136NL.
When a pump needs more than a seal, the full service pump repair shop is ready and equipped for a total rebuild. They also say it plainly: “we offer emergency service.” Call (509) 452-7867 and say what the pump is doing.
Chapter 03
Constant pressure drives, and keeping the pump healthy
Akland sells and installs energy efficient Constant Pressure Variable Speed Drives. A variable speed drive lets the pump motor slow down or speed up with demand instead of running flat out against a throttled valve, which is easier on the motor and holds a steadier line at the sprinkler.
The shop’s own service advice is simple: an irrigation pump should be serviced at least every three years, or any time it is not sounding right or producing what it should. A pump that has started to sound different is telling you something.
Winter is the quiet time to do it. Akland runs a winter storage program, and the shop’s own reminder is that getting a pump in early saves you the spring rush. Call and they will bring it in for you, or drop it off yourself.

“Highly recommend this business just from my experiences with the customer service! I had to take an irrigation pump down to them to have it inspected and to also get a seal replaced. Both tasks were completed with quality customer service. They provided me with a video of them testing the pump to show me that it was in good working order to begin with. Complete honesty from these people. Professionals. Highly recommend!”
A house pump or a pressure tank is a different job from a field pump, and the well pump page covers it. Turbines down in a deep well are on the turbine page. Anything that needs to come apart on a bench goes to the repair shop, and the parts counter is at the supply store, open Monday to Friday, 7:30am-5pm.
